Stephen Cole, one of the most widely-recognised faces on international television news, will be talking with audiences at Coventry University on Thursday as part of this week's Coventry Conversations programme.

The Hereford-born presenter, who currently anchors the English version of the Arab news network Al Jazeera, has over 26 years of experience in both print and broadcast journalism and runs his own corporate communications company, Cole Productions.

Following stints at ITV Anglia, ITN, Sky News and CNN International, Cole joined the BBC where - in addition to becoming a regular ‘stand in' presenter on the six o'clock and 10 o'clock news - he came up with the idea for the corporation's consumer technology news show, Click.

In his talk entitled ‘Al Jazeera and the recent Arab revolutions', which will be introduced by the vice-chancellor of Coventry University, Professor Madeleine Atkins, Cole will give audiences a unique insight into work at Al Jazeera and into the news channel's role in the current Arab uprisings.

The talk will take place on Thursday (March 17th) at 1pm in the Ellen Terry Building on Jordan Well, city centre. All Coventry Conversations are open to the public and free to attend.
